How To Remove Your Door Trim And Speaker On Your Freelander 5-Door Model:

1. Prise off the triangular trim panel fitted on the inside of the door – this is secured by a central, serrated push-in clip, and this is also clipped over a peg on the inside of the door trim panel. Once the mirror trim panel is free, disconnect the speaker wiring plugs inside.

2. Partially pull out the door release handle, and remove the single screw behind which secures the recess panel. Slide the recess panel rearwards initially, to unclip its front edge, then slide it around the release handle, and remove it.

3. Remove two screws from the door pull handle, and a total of five screws from around the door pocket. Note the screw behind the cupholder plastic stud.

4. Carefully prise the panel at the front and rear edges, to release the two push-on clips at each (one half-way up, one at the top corner), then pull the panel away from the door to release three further clips along the top edge.

5. Lift the panel over the door lock button and free it form the top of the door window guide.

With a 5 door model the process to remove the trims from rear doors also require a slightly different process.

On models with manual windows, the winder handle must be removed as follows:

A) Prise the winder handle to open a gap between it and the circular disc behind

B) Work the edge of a piece of (clean) cloth/rag into the gap behind the handle, from below.

C) Using a ‘sawing’ action, work the cloth side-to-side, and also pull the ends of the cloth upwards. It may take some time, but what trying to do is snag the ends of the spring clip holding the handle in place. – when you do, the sawing action should work the clip up and off,  allowing the handle to be pulled from the splines, the handle to be pulled up from the splines. With patience it does work – just watch for that spring clip flying off.

6. Partially pull out the door release handle, and remove the single screw behind which secures the recess panel. Slide the recess panel rearwards initially, to unclip its front edge, then slide it around the release handle, and remove it.

7. Remove two screws from, the door pull handle.

8. Carefully prise the panel first at the bottom, then at the front and rear edges, to release a total of ten push-on clips. Pull the panel away from the door, and (where applicable) disconnect the wiring plug from the electric window switch.

9. Release the two clips along the top edge of the panel, then lift it over the door lock button and free it from the top of the door window guide.
